About us
In the heart of the Algarve hills, Otília Cardeira, a guardian of Cachopo’s traditions, offers unique experiences in weaving, local gastronomy, and guided walks through the village’s natural and cultural heritage. A true journey into the roots of mountain life.
Quiosque o Moinho – Move e Promove Cachopo is more than a tourism company — it is a living expression of Otília Cardeira’s love for her land. Now over 70 years old, Otília was born and raised in Cachopo, a village in the Algarve hills, where she continues to preserve and share the traditions of her people.
Through her hands and her stories, she invites visitors to take part in weaving workshops and the traditional flax cycle, offering a hands-on experience of ancestral crafts. She also leads walking tours through the village and surrounding hills, revealing the secrets of aromatic and medicinal plants known by generations of locals.
Meals are served in the most welcoming way: on a patchwork blanket, outdoors, where traditional dishes like corn porridge, stewed rooster, honey cake, and nogados (a local sweet) bring the past to life. The experience may also include walks to natural springs and butterfly watching, turning each visit into a full sensory journey.
All activities are available by appointment and offer a rare chance to connect with the land, the memory, and the people of Cachopo. Otília doesn’t just move and promote the village — she embodies its most authentic soul.
